When you think about water safety the first thing that probably will pop into your brain is drowning. Actually it is certainly one of the highest risks when swimming but there is more. Germs can infect pool water and can cause RWI - recreational water illnesses.
These illnesses are distributed by drinking pool water that has been contaminated. Contamination is spread when someone's feces gets in the water.
You know that the germs provoking these RWIs get killed by the chlorine in the pool water but that doesn't happen straight away after an accident. Some germs like Crypto can live more than a day in chlorinated water.
As babies and some toddlers are not completely potty-trained most pools request that they wear a swim diaper approved by the CDC.
Swim nappies are not like common diapers as they do not take in liquids. What they are presumed to do is to contain any solid waste in. Though it is true that swimming diaper do not guarantee non-leakage on 100% if used with some precautions they will cut off the germ spread.
You can select from disposable and reusable swimmer diapers to buy. Both have their benefits and disadvantages but I personally recommend using the reusables.
The reason I favor cloth swim diapers is they are much cheaper in the long term though the beginning expenditure may seem large. In fact your baby will need only two or three cloth swim diapers so you can change them if there has been a poo accident.
You can wash them in the laundry with other clothes and towels. I wouldn't recommend that you put your infant in a normal cloth diaper cover. In most cases it will do the same work but the chlorine in the water will damage the fabric.
If you detest the thought of washing a soiled diaper than you should go for the disposable option. Disposable swim nappies come in packs as regular and you throw them away after each use. I wouldn't recommend using a sposie more than once though it can outlive several laundry cycles.
The negative aspect of using disposable swimmer diapers is they will need more room in your bag and they are actually expensive.
When you go choosing swim diapers you should keep some important checkpoints in your mind.
A great swim diaper should be comfortable, not hard to put on and pull off when dirty and should be made of a delicate fabric that won't give your little a rash. My tip is to choose an adjustable swimming diaper, there are options with Velcro, snaps and strings so it fits snugly the baby's body.
Both reusable and disposable swim diapers have a great collection of colors and models to choose from. Especially if you have a baby girl you may find it hard to choose only one or two as they are so charming.
